IDLY PODI/IDLI PODI RECIPE


INGREDIENTS:
1. Urad dal (Ulundu) - 1 kg
2. Black sesame seeds (Ell) -  100 grams
3. Curry leaves - 1/4 kg
4. Red chilly (varamilagai) - 7 if big ones or 10 if small ones
5. Salt to taste

METHOD:
1.  Fry each of the above ingredients separately without oil.

2. Urad dall should be fried till turning to golden brown in color.  When frying other items, better to keep the flame in simmer.


3. Once nicely fried, add all together with salt to taste.



4.  Grind everything together in mixer till they become to a texture between coarse and fine.

Quick and crispy side dish for morning tiffin is ready just within 5 minutes. This can be kept in airtight container and can last for a month to serve 5.  Urad dal is good for hip joints.  Children like the taste and it does not upset the stomach. This can be taken not only with idly, but dosa too.  Our children take it just as is not even with idly or dosa.  Time saving for working mothers.
