KARAMANI SUNDAL / KARAMANI SUNDAL RECIPE


INGREDIENTS:
1.  Karamani - 1 cup
2.  Bengal gram /kadalai paruppu -1 tablespoon
3.  Urad dal / ulutham paruppu -1 tablespoon
4.  Red chillies - 2
5.  Mustard - 1 teaspoon
6.  Asafoetida / perungayam  - a pinch
7.  Curry leaves -few
8.  Salt to taste
9.  Grated coconut handfull
10.Coriander seeds - 1 teaspoon

METHOD:
1.  Soak the peas  for 6 hours.   Pressure cook with some salt in water.
2.  Roast  bengal gram, urad dal, coriander seeds and red chillies. Grind it and keep it aside.
3. Heat a tsp of oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add perungayam, ground powder and curry leaves.
4. Then add the cooked karamani and the grated coconut cook for a few seconds and serve hot.
